The Annual Flagship Conference Association of European Business (AEB) took place on the October 25 under the title “European Business in Russia: How to Maintain Bridges in a World Drifting Apart?" Among the 250 participants were the representatives of government authorities, economists and analysts, as well as representatives of the European businesses in Russia.
Among the issues discussed was emphasized the intention of enhancing control and increasing the number of inspections at customs in order to prevent violations. This measure is aimed at protection of the right holders from illegal import.
It was mentioned that in 2024 the tax burden on Russian business as well as on the exporters is likely to increase. However, the current economical and geopolitical situation has a potential to turn into a new wave of prospering cooperation with European brands in 4-6 years, as it was in the 1990s when Russia was at the very beginning of the era of synergy with international partners, who flooded the market giving a huge development of the economy.
In terms of logistics the issues of reorienting of the traffic flows was highlighted, emphasizing that the leave of foreign providers from the Russian market caused difficulties with large volumes of #cargos transporting on the territory of Far East and especially in Kaliningrad region which is the #exclave of Russia. Thus the domestic cargos delivery as well as import to Russia will encounter difficulties which must be solved engaging providers from other countries, as well as establishing local ones.
TKM International Consulting expresses gratitude to the organizers of the conference which allows to set up an open, honest, and pragmatic dialogue of the Russian government with representatives of foreign brands. Such a communication is critical to ensure the support of the economy and business in times of unprecedented challenges.
