WHAT COUNTERFEIT PRODUCTS WERE MOST FREQUENTLY SEIZED BY SIBERIAN CUSTOMS OFFICERS IN 2024?
In 2024, officers of the Siberian Customs Administration identified more than 90K units of counterfeit products, which were found mainly in motor transport, at retail outlets and warehouses, during customs declaration, and in international mail.
Among the counterfeits, the most frequently seized were clothing, footwear, tobacco products, as well as counterfeit children's goods, the share of which also increased significantly on online resources.
Earlier, in the article of the Izvestia magazine mentioned statistics provided by the Association of Children's Goods Industry Enterprises (AIDT), which reported that counterfeit goods account for a third (34%) of the entire children's market. The problem with counterfeit goods in this segment affects not only toys, but also board games, which are made from cheap materials, are unofficially imported to the Russian Federation and then offered on marketplaces, by presenting copies of certificates of conformity for the original product. Olga Yakimuk, CEO of the “Ekivoki” publishing house, says in the same article: “Finally, we know nothing about how safe these products are: what kind of ink is there, what kind of content”.
