MORE THAN 50 TRUCKS WITH COGNAC ARE STOPPED ON THE BORDER OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION AND ARMENIA | TKM - International Consulting
October 10, 2023

“Due to enhancing of the customs control, approximately 60 trucks transporting cognac got stuck on the Russian-Armenian border”, - writes the news agency ARMENPRESS with reference to Vaan Hakobyan, the customs official of the Armenian Embassy in Russia. According to the alcohol market insider, there’re about 1.2M bottles in the detained trucks.

“Starting from March 2023, the Russian customs service has imposed control on cognac imported from Armenia, what was explained by violations detected, such as counterfeit and so on. A few days ago, the monitoring has been intensified”, - says Hakobyan. He also added, that such measures are hardly related to economic sanctions of Russia against Armenia, since the matter concerns the infringements detected, such as counterfeiting and violations of the drinks composition.

In the fast changing economic and political reality, it is complicated to predict the situations occurring in relation to the foreign counterparties, particularly when it comes to food and drinks. This segment is sensitive because of direct relation to the people’s health, thus the producers of edible goods are more exposed to complications. The target of TKM International Consulting is to build the strong links with the law enforcement, customs and government authorities in order to support our partners’ business in Russia and CIS applying our expertise and connections in the complicated situations emerged. We closely cooperate with customs authorities for many years to stop the traffic of counterfeit goods, protecting the right holders and the consumers.
